Greetings
Winter is right around the corner, and we are super excited about this upcoming season at all our resorts. Our seasonal staff is 10 times the number of year-round staff and the onboarding process is less than 8 weeks for the bulk of our team, so you can imagine what that is like. Our HR teams are amazing. We have also done some extra deep diving in weather-data this past summer, and we will be optimizing our snowmaking at each mountain to be sure we are taking advantage of weather windows and getting as much terrain open as quickly as we can. Weather windows are shorter than they used to be and the number of nights getting below 15 degrees is less than 20 years ago. Early season belongs to the avid skier, and we want to deliver, so line-flooding and seizing every chance to make snow at 25 wet bulb and below will be key. In real estate it is “location, location, location.” In skiing and snowboarding early season, it is “terrain, terrain, terrain.” We have the right technology, hardware, infrastructure, teams, and attitude to get it done. As always, weather drives the bus, and we are ready for whatever is thrown at us. As my father always says, “we will talk about weather in April.”
